After touring in the warm Florida sunshine, Theme Park Concierges VIP Concierges delight in taking Guests for a cool dip at the ‘melting ski resort’ water park Blizzard Beach. To reach the 90’ (27.4 m) summit of Mount Gushmore’s slides and rides, there are stairs, a gondola for disabled Guests and ski chairlift replicas that bring Guests to ‘slopes’ that are color-coded levels, just like at ski resorts—red, green and purple. The water is heated to a deceivingly 80 F (27 C) toasty temperature despite the snow-themed surroundings, except for the melting snow in the ice cave of Cross Country Creek’s lazy river.
A one-acre (0.40 ha) wave pool Melt-Away Bay is full of bobbing waves fed by ‘melting’ ice flows into waterfalls. With a staggering variety of thrilling liquid attractions, including the water gushing Slush Gusher body slides, twisting, turning flumes at Run-off Rapids, ski slopes, rushes and even white water rafting at Teamboat Springs, the ultimate free-fall water slide comes from a 120’ (36.6 m) drop at speeds up to 60 miles per hour (97 km/h) at Summit Plummet. Younger Guests can enter the Ski Patrol area and walk on floating ‘icebergs’ in the Leisure Pool, and play safely in Tike’s Peak.
Whatever the age or height limitation for rides, Blizzard Beach provides family fun for all, with a ‘wintery’ twist. Theme Park Concierges know all the best places to take Guests for a snack or meal, too, like Avalunch and Lottawatta Lodge, or where to buy souvenirs or gifts at The Beach Haus.
